AZANDA NETWORK DEVICES EXPANDS SALES CHANNELS IN THE ASIAN MARKET THROUGH PARTNERSHIP WITH METATECH LIMITED
Sales and distribution partnership will target the Chinese and Pacific Rim chip market
MetaTech to display Azanda's products at upcoming International IC Conference & Exhibition
February 26, 2003 — Sunnyvale, CA — Azanda Network Devices, an innovator in the development of silicon products for managing the way traffic is processed in core, edge and access networks, today announced that it is continuing to increase its presence in the Asian markets by entering a strategic relationship with Asian distribution specialist MetaTech. With 16 offices in eight countries, MetaTech will leverage its strong customer relationships in Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines to sell and distribute Azanda's complete line of products, including the Scimitar™ and Saber™ traffic management product families. This strategic agreement further extends Azanda's presence in the innovative and expanding Asia/Pacific Rim market.
The Asian telecommunications market is thriving, with an increasing focus being placed on the region as network system companies seek to meet growing demands for a variety of technologically advanced traffic management technologies. Azanda and MetaTech are combining forces to supply the region with best-of-breed traffic management solutions for high-speed optical networking. "Asia represents a potentially large opportunity of business for Azanda and in particular China has shown maturation in self-generated technology products and associated demand," said Tom Griffin, vice president of sales at Azanda Network Devices. "There is a genuine need for an open architecture traffic management solution that can work with a variety of chip technologies, while helping to significantly reduce development costs. MetaTech's technical expertise and strong ties in the region will be the key to expanding our business in this territory."
"We specialize in providing our customers with innovative technologies for solving their application and design issues and are very happy to be partnering with Azanda at this exciting time of growth in Asia," said Louis Xu, managing director of the Greater China Group for MetaTech. "Cost efficiency, in combination with low power consumption are incredibly important to our customers and Azanda's easily integrated, wire-speed traffic manager products deliver precisely the type of capabilities our customers seek. Combining our local presence in the region and Azanda's unique technology should prove to be a very beneficial strategic partnership for both of our companies."
Azanda's traffic management technology delivers fine-grained traffic policing, scheduling and shaping to meet network OEMs' development efforts for reducing overall system cost while incorporating multiple service technologies into a single platform. The open architecture of Azanda's platform provides OEMs with the flexibility to augment network processor capabilities and meet demands for wire speed performance by enabling them to integrate their existing infrastructure and take advantage of new technologies as they develop.
Interested parties can learn more about Azanda's Saber and Scimitar product families from MetaTech representatives at the International IC Conference & Exhibition in Shanghai on March 3-4 and in Shenzhen on March 10-11, 2003.
